We’re Now Closed to Make Way for the NEW!
November 21, 2016
Last July, we let you know that all operations of the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest would cease as of August 31st, in order to make room for God to move in new ways in the marketplace throughout Oregon and SW Washington. At that time, we also encouraged everyone to seek God’s direction in prayer as to where He is leading in marketplace ministry and to communicate to the board insights as God revealed them to you.
We also undertook to wind down all chamber activities and meet any remaining obligations so that we could “close the books” without any outstanding commitments. We are pleased to report that, through members and other supporters, God has generously provided the means to pay off all debts owed, be they to supporters, sponsors, partners, members or contractors and leaving a small surplus in the bank. We voted to donate any funds remaining after shut down expenses are paid to Serving Our Neighbors.
As to the future of CCCNW, while there was a sense (as we heard from many of you) that the mission of “demonstrating God’s abundance in the marketplace” has yet to be fulfilled, we did not see confirming evidence that God was leading us to continue together as a Chamber of Commerce. Rather, we anticipate that new forms of ministry will spring up with fresh approaches and leadership. Therefore, the board voted to dissolve the CCCNW’s 501C6 corporate entity to make room for these new forms. Appropriate papers have been filed with the Oregon Secretary of State.
What this means:
- The Christian Chamber of Commerce Northwest, having already ceased all activity and closed out all memberships, will now cease to exist as a legal entity.
- Local or regional groups of former members and others may decide to resume meeting, collaborating, praying for and supporting one another on a volunteer basis.
- Such groups, should they exist, will not have any formal association with or membership in CCCNW.
We took this action not without sadness, but also anticipating renewal to come as a result.
We also acknowledge that God brought us all together, forming many relationships through the Christian Chamber Northwest during this past season. We hope and trust that these will continue, will flourish and will build His Kingdom “on earth as it is in Heaven”.
God is not done with the marketplace. There are yet many lives to be touched and souls to be reached through His people who are called to marketplace ministry. We encourage each of you to continue to seek His direction, meet together, pray together and look after one another as you are called to minister within the marketplace. We encourage individuals or groups so led, to continue to gather locally or regionally. So take the initiative to reach out, be in touch, be in prayer and be in community.
Finally, thank you for the opportunity to serve you! It has been an honor to work together to encourage each member in their journey.
